What's Emmanuel like? & Who we are.
(Testimonies from members of Emmanuel Church)

I came to Emmanuel looking for support following a difficult time. I found people were understanding, non-judgemental, compassionate, friendly and most definitely sharing the love of God and one year on I am still here. Praise be to God.

I came to Emmanuel church because my nephew was getting married there. I came with my sister and her husband. I have stayed because I feel at home, its like one big happy family. I love singing the hymns and meeting friends. I have made new friends since coming to the church and I feel closer to God.

Attending monthly Boys Brigade parade services with my son made me realise it wasn't him I was coming for but myself. Being part of the body of Emmanuel Church has given me a new meaning of life.

We initially came to Emmanuel because we wanted to be blessed on our own wedding day within our parent's parish. On attending, to be on the Electoral register, it soon became apparent that it meant more than that to us both. It became an emotional experience and journey to our wedding day in the church. The people within Emmanuel opened their hearts to us and supported our growth and helped us to seek comfort in the decisions we had to make to become man and wife. Revd Peter Huxtable made our special day personal and very meaningful. Since that day we have stayed and begun a bigger journey to develop our faith. We were encouraged to attend the Alpha Course and "What next" sessions and we moved on to being finally confirmed on 24th May this year. We both feel that we are on the first step of the ladder and aim to continue our growth with Emmanuel Church.

I came to Emmanuel because I felt for sometime there was something missing in my life. I had watched the Alpha Course series on TV and saw Emmanuel's advert for their own course and I attanded. I liked being able to ask questions with no pressure to attend otherwise. I stayed within the church after attending 2 Alpha courses, talking to church members and asking a lot of questions, I feel now that I am beginning on the path to finding what has been missing.

We first attended Emmanuel Church when our children and also our granddaughter were getting married there. We realised how lovely it was. We go most Sundays, everyone is so friendly, it's like one big family. You get to know lots of different people. We always enjoy the service on a Sunday. Recently we had our Blessing in the Church for our Golden Wedding anniversary. We had a lovely service, it made our day very special with all our family and friends.
