WHAT IS ALPHA - OMEGA ?

Christian Faith

The Christian Faith revolves around the person of Jesus Christ.  Born into a poor family 2000 years ago, Jesus lived an amazing life, able to be humble and gentle, caring and compassionate, but speaking and acting with incredible authority and supernatural power.  The pivotal moment was his death and resurrection.  When his followers started seeing him alive again and whole, they realised that Jesus was more than a prophet or holy man, but the One that God had invested himself completely in: truly the Son of God.

The fact that a genuine human being had overcome death sparked a brand new movement called ‘the Church’, which 2000 years later encompasses much of the world.  The Church is made up of thousands of communities around the world with people who are either enquiring or have discovered that Jesus today is alive and brings in a new world of hope, forgiveness, love and healing.

What does it mean to be a Christian?

To be a Christian is to be a follower of Jesus Christ, who in turn shows us a new dimension to God, where we can relate to him in familiar and intimate terms, calling God our ‘Father’.  It is a life decision, not simply a religious hobby.  Instead of believing either that this life as we know it is all there is, or having some false hope that a future life in heaven is guaranteed for everyone, by linking our lives to Jesus, we lay down our selfish ambitions our past failures and regrets, and take up instead the values and goals that Jesus and his early followers expressed in the Bible.

In the Bible, Jesus is described as a light shining in the darkness, true bread that satisfies, living water that overflows, the resurrection and the life.  If you have never thought seriously about his life and his claims, why not start now?

Alpha - Omega (Emanuel Church picture 7)

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty" (Apocalypse 1:8).

ALPHA - OMEGA is a symbol representing the divinity of Christ from the words spoken by Jesus of himself.
